Counselling

Counseling is a collaborative process that involves a trained professional helping individuals address personal challenges, enhance self-understanding, and promote mental health and well-being.

Sean grew up in Twillingate, Newfoundland. His life has revolved around different sports & exercise. He is very passionate about helping people reach their full potential.

Sean completed his Osteopathy training in Toronto, Ontario and attained with honours the Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice (DOMP). He has a strong background in strength & conditioning along with exercise prescription. He has worked with youth to seniors over the years, designing programs for health and wellness as well as sport specific programs in many different sports, especially off ice programs for hockey that have included players at the junior & university level. With over 20 years of experience in the health, wellness and rehabilitation fields, he brings a wealth of knowledge. Beside his DOMP designation, he has a Master’s of Science degree in Physiotherapy and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology. He has experience working with various neurological and orthopaedic conditions.

Sean did his Master’s research on the effects of a group exercise & education program on physical function & health status in the Canadian Armed Forces personnel with chronic low back pain.

After going through his own injuries in his early 20’s, he took an interest in the rehabilitation field and after suffering chronic pain due to a hockey injury, Sean seeked out Osteopathy. It was something that peeked his interest. He is a huge proponent of movement education and pain science.

Throughout Sean’s academic career, he has always had a keen interest in expanding knowledge about the human body through functional anatomy & biomechanics. He has a lifelong commitment to furthering his education and has an unwavering passion to making a positive impact on people’s lives through evidence-based manual therapy. He believes the key to improved healthcare is education & awareness along with empowering his clients to be active participants in their rehabilitation and working with them to address their unique rehabilitation goals.

In his free time, Sean enjoys playing ice and ball hockey, running and CrossFit. He also enjoys going for hikes & walks with his wife and their goldendoodle Sophie.

Sean looks forward to working with you to achieve your rehabilitation goals and strives to help you achieve a high quality of life!

Wendy is a clinical Social Worker and hails from central Newfoundland. After retiring from the Canadian military, she wanted to continue to serve her country in a helping capacity, completing a Bachelor of Social Work with the University in Calgary and a Master of Social Work with the University of Waterloo. Wendy has 16 years of combined service working with and for Canada’s serving and non-serving veterans, including the provision of counselling services.

Wendy is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Gerontology with Laurentian University with the intent to provide a specialized set of counselling skills, assessment and consultancy services to and for our senior community and those that support them, a population she feels is largely underserved. She is also completing education with Laurier University to further enhance her ability to provide counselling services to both couples and families.

While everyone is welcome, Wendy specializes in trauma work and provides therapy services to adults and teenagers, primarily from a somatic (relating to the body) lens as she believes wellness is accomplished wholistically. She uses Somatic Experiencing® (SEP® certified), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Transforming Touch (TTP® certified). However, because she believes in self-determination, her scope of practice also includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Motivational Interviewing for those who would prefer more cognitive based support.

She also has completed addictions training and education with McMaster University and has experience in completing addictions assessments. Wendy believes in meeting the unique needs of each individual and will work collaboratively with clients to ensure their health goals are met. She is currently expanding her clinical training to offer additional body-based therapies and will provide more details as she gets closer to completion.

Wendy is currently accepting new clients starting October 8, 2025. Bookings are available for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. There is a wait list for serving and non-serving military individuals.
